... this while doing the routine morning service on the engine. The options are (reasonably) warm with almost certain rain and low winds, vs. cold and high winds directly on the nose. As I said earlier, I can handle cold or rain but not both together. I opt to endure the wet and make time with the hope of reaching Oriental before the weather deteriorates. We had planned to spend the afternoon doing a little drive to the next big town in North Carolina but what we found was not all that inviting. After seeing the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, the Virginian Mountains, the Kentucky horselands, and the friendly people of Tennessee, North Carolina was a bit of a downer. It was flat and kind of ...

... it was really humid! The ocean was nice and warm (unlike the chilly Pacific) and Maddie kept me busy making castles and wave jumping. Up, down, up, down….it made me think of the two little ones at home, who I miss terribly.

Shawn is not a fan of the ocean, so when we gave him the low down on our day, confirming no shark sightings, jellyfish stings or sunburns he was happy. I think the worst thing that did happen was a ...
