... It's been many years since I first met Dave's sister's family. Of course since then, the kids have grown and there have been a few little additions. Needless to say, we had a lot to catch up on in their huge house just outside of Mountain View, close to Hilo. Eva is now 5 years old and has a beautiful voice, curly brown hair, and a personality that, no doubt, will land her her dream job as a dancing rock star. Little Eden, 4yrs, in her yellow sunflower dresses with ...

Mauna Ulu, Kamana Caves, Pu'u huluhulu & Mauna Kea

A travel blog entry by haileyanne on Jun 18, 2015

We began the day with a hike up up to a Pu'u huluhulu that looked over the lava field. ... sugar canes to sugar mills, how new technologies on that time hanged the lives. A man running this told so great stories! We arrived in Waipio valley later than expected. This is so beautiful nature spot. Unfortunately going down the valley to the black sand beach is braking the agreement of all major rental companies, and now I understand why..the road is steep, I mean really steep.. to some point 25% and brings You some great fear..very narrow, bumpy, lots of turns....not ...

Day 27 - Foggy Craters and Cottages

A travel blog entry by dougndev on Nov 14, 2014

We woke again to the sound of rain on the tin roof, of our coffee plantation cottage. We packed up and loaded the car up in the rain, and got ready to set off for Volcano. We spoke to Brad to collect our coffee order, who had either forgotten it or put it in the wrong cottage. Later I discovered the coffee bag wasn't sealed properly; annoying as it has to travel for 2 months. We set off for Volcano, and the national park. Our luck has ran out with the good weather, as it was foggy ...
