... were added where needed, but they blend in beautifully. Canals wind throughout the city; tourists take canal boat rides, photographing the uplifting architecture, and the swans, which are protected by the government and quite well fed. Bruges, in addition to their chocolates, beer, waffles, and Belgian fries, has been well known since the 15th century for its lace making by hand; in fact, Bruges has become a ...

... likely, from a plane on an early flight home. The wind was strong as we neared Brugge, powering from the coast at times forcing me to get off and push. We rattled down the cobbles wind burned and sweaty, but excited to see the city and get a room for the night. The drive to the camp-site Camping Klein Strand was nice and straight forward for the first journey just 78 miles. We pulled up at reception just a little before 12 noon, greeted with a ...

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and used the hotel as our "jumping off" point to tour Beglium. We unfortunately didn't get much time here, as we left (after a FABULOUS breakfast...which included chocolate!!!) for Bruge in the morning, and went onto Germany after Brugge.

We will definitely return here, though. It is larger than Brugge, but smaller than Brussels, and has the largest "car-free" downtown area in the ...
