Historical Traveler Reviews Gregory Inn Denver
Delightful Gregory Inn
Our three night stay at the Gregory Inn was truly a delight. The proprietor was extremely accommodating, friendly and very helpful with suggestions of where, what and how to sightsee.
A three block walk to lightrail took us downtown with ease. The Inn itself is meticulously furnished with comfortable elegance and breakfasts were delicious. High praises for The Gregory Inn!
Love this place!!!!
The Gregory Inn is one of the BEST B&B's I have ever stayed in. I get say enough about the wonderful service from Stephen Gregory and the outstanding breakfasts prepared each morning by Betka. The Inn is situated at the end of a very quiet street close to the downtown area easily accesible by bus or streetcar. It is quite pleasurable to sit out on the porch enjoying the beautifully kept gardens. Make sure you get a tour of all the rooms as they are all well equipped and quite lovely. I have stayed there a number of times and will always consider it my favorite place to stay in Denver.
A Lovely Experience
I recently stayed at the Gregory Inn with my girlfriend for a romantic night out. The day we checked in, we ate dinner downtown and attended a concert at the Pepsi Center. We found the location to be incredibly convenient to both. The next day, we went to a few other attractions in the downtown area, and again, it was very convenient. The neighborhood where the Inn is located is in the process of being re-vitalized and is undergoing a lot of construction at this time. Still, the area was completely quiet, and every time we drove into the neighborhood, we were the only car on the road. Other reviewers have commented on the nearby bus station, but the bus station is far enough removed from the Inn that it doesn't pose any sort of problem at all. Besides which, I have to wonder what one expects in an urban area. There will be buses, bus stations, construction, and perhaps even a hint of decay in places. That's all par for the course in a downtown setting. And in fact, due to its location, the Inn has far less of that than a lot of other places in downtown Denver, and at a far more reasonable price. The rooms are absolutely exquisite. The decor is impeccably done with great dignity, yet offers a warmth and friendliness that simply begs you to come in, sit down, and enjoy. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and catered to our wishes. Mr. Gregory was not only exceptionally friendly and gracious as a host, but was a marvelous conversationalist to boot. I simply cannot recommend the Gregory Inn enough. It is an oasis of 19th century splendor set in the heart of a very modern downtown area. It offers the best mix of convenience and comfort that I've found in a very long time.
An Honest Review
We just recently stayed at the Gregory Inn, and, quite honestly, all of the reviews combined would describe it well. The accommodations are wonderful and comfortable. The Inn is beautifully decorated with upscale and gorgeous furniture, painted with warm and soothing colors, and staffed with very friendly people (who can also make a fabulous breakfast), making it a very enjoyable stay. What makes the other reviews make sense, is that it is NOT in the best neighborhood, and not truly convenient to local attractions and restaurants. Also, it would be great if it could be staffed with someone who could help carry heavy luggage up steps. If you could pick up this quaint Inn, and move it to a better location, you would have the best place to stay in the Denver area. Nonetheless, thumbs up.
Make Business Trip A First Class Vacation
This is a real first class B&B. My wife and I stayed 5 days at The Gregory Inn during a convention in Denver and were absolutely delighted with our very luxurious room, most comfortable bed we've ever slept in, and great gourmet breakfasts every morning. Our hosts were gracious, friendly and accomodating. The grounds were lush and well kept with virtually NO traffic on the cross streets making it a quiet oasis right on the edge of the city center. Very accessible location. We walked each morning to the convention center (about 15 min) and took a streetcar back. Be sure to catch a game at Coors Field (wonderful stadium about 8 minute walk). The inn is on the city side (last house before tall bldgs) of a large historic district- a lovely walking tour.
We've stayed at a lot of B&Bs. This was our best experience yet and difficult to leave the comfort and hospitality even after 5 days!
Highest recomendation.
Beautiful house, awful location
My husband and I stayed at the Gregory Inn mainly because of its advertised walking distance to the Lower Downtown district. While theoretically you could walk there, you would pass a bus station and shelter on dark streets on your way. It's definitely too far to walk to the Coors Stadium. Our room was beautiful and the bed was marvelously comfortable. The entire inn is sumptuously decorated and upscale.
However, we would not stay there again because the neighborhood made us nervous. The owners need to change their promotional materials to focus on the beauty and graciousness of the inn and not refer to "walking distance" to anywhere. Even a recommended restaurant three blocks away was farther than we were willing to walk at night.
Great place, not so great location.
The Inn itself was gorgeous, but the location was awful. Were told it was in walking distance to downtown - not so. Located a block away from a Greyhound bus station = lots of sketchy people nearby. Woke up at night to a street fight outside the Inn, and the police were called.
Though I liked the B&B itself, I would not go back.
Romantic Gregory Inn
This is an Inn that offered privacy, romance and small luxuries. The room was cozy with a fireplace and spa tub for two. The decor tasteful and new. We were told all the rooms have the same amenities. Newly renovated and it shows. Wonderful, intimate breakfast in the morning.
Definatly a great place for a romantic getaway.
