Flawless first day!
... there was no place to stop to photograph them. The views were awesome as the mountains rose above us and rivers ran below us. Mountain tops were often above the tree line, with the tundra already a dull brown as winter approaches. The birch trees were in peak color at the higher elevations and turning elsewhere. The spruce trees were increasingly scrawny as we climbed the higher hills. It was absolutely beautiful!

... we inadvertantly drove by a chocolate store we (I) had meant to stop at. Some of you know the story of the fortune cookie that Warren kept the fortune from in his wallet for several years. It said, "To keep your wife happy, give her chocolate." Great words! By the way, Val, I got a recipe in the geocache in Prince George for s'more muffins. Nette Überraschungen in Fairbanks
... müsse unbedingt nochmal herkommen und mehr Fotos schiessen. Na gut, wenn die mich beinahe dazu drängen und ich nur 10 Minuten von meinem Hotel entfernt ein ganzes Schlaraffenland an Fliegern habe, bittesehr. Und damit ist das nun nicht wie eigentlich geplant der letzte Blog-Eintrag der Reise, sondern es kommt nochmals einer - denn wer weiss, zu welchen Überraschungen dieses Fairbanks noch gut ist!
