We are loving it here in Monterey. Everything is perfect. We spent a day by the pool on Saturday and went down to the beach to watch the sunset. It was so beautiful. And just when I thought it couldn't be more perfect as we got up to head back Murray stayed down and asked me to marry him. The moment replays in my head and makes me smile and well up. Then I think of my response 'are you being serious?' So romantic. Then ...

    Monterey to Big Sur

... The scenery along the coast is nothing but spectacular. The road hugs the coastline on the sides of the hills and mountains and it takes an effort to remain concentrated on driving. The last two days have started with wonderful walks along the ocean.

Yesterday, we parked the car near the Inn at Spanish Bay and walked from there to the Asilomar Conference Center where the Standens had one of their family reunions in 1989. Great memories!

When we started the walk near Spanish Bay, it was 58 degrees, and I was glad that I had my fleece jacket and gloves and a cap. Little foggy and cool. Beautiful ...

A late start to the morning. Our host Philip cooked up a mean breakfast of granola and quiche. In the weeks we have been travelling it's about the third time breakfast has been taken. I mean how interesting can you make a bit of ham and egg. Save room in your stomach for the good stuff. Anyway, a nice start to the morning. It was time to pack, the Fusion was loaded and sunroof opened for Day 3 of our driving journey. It was back along the private farm road, slow ...
