... along the western end was entirely flaming red. We paddled down to have a look but the sunset got wrapped up in heavy clouds hovering low over the hills and so we will give it another go in the morning when the first light of day coming from the east should make it glow in spectacular fashion.

We were back in camp before dark and so we built a fire, spread out our appetizers and finished the Chianti from the first night. ...

... I hadn't moved at all. The water was pretty low but mostly we could paddle along. There were probably a half dozen "rapids" along the way - none seemed dangerous - not really fast moving or much swirling, but a lot of potential of getting stuck. Well we survived the rafting trip and headed out to our next destination of Vacation Village in the Berkshires, a timeshare just outside of Albany across the MA border. We arrived safetly and checked in to our hotsy totsy new accommodations complete with a bed and TV's. Looking forward to what our new location can provide entertainment wise, we retire for the night.

Day 2 of camping in the Adirondacks was just what I really enjoy. The rain had continued the entire night, which was actually a nice sound on the tarp Alex had placed above our tent. We remained bone dry the entire night. Alex slept in, so I hiked a bit around the lake. As I approached the camp, I walked up on a deer, probably 10 feet away. How I was able to get that close I am not sure. It looked up as we noticed each other, and slowly walked away. What a ...
