Our last stop has been Gatlinburg, TN. We enjoyed our visit to the Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. Jim looked all over the place, high and low but never saw Dolly! We ran into the Compton's from Lexington who happened to be here too. We enjoyed having dinner together with Ben, Suzanne, Charlie and Nancy. It was nice to have friends to enjoy a meal with again.

It will be wonderful to be back in South Carolina even though there will be lots of changes from ...

... Tuesday had turned into Wednesday. We were exhausted but you need to keep going the first day to get used to the time change. Germany is 6 hours ahead of US EST. Our hostess, Yvonne met us at the airport and took us to her home. It is a former villa and she lives on one floor of it. Very unique! Impressive stuff especially notable the museum is free and survives on the purchases in the gift shop and donations. Worth the stop. With the heavy rain and thick fog, we opts against doing the Tail of the Dragon and chose to skirt around. This turned out to be a really nice ride through the forest into Pigeon Forge. ...

Their Board of Directors, including my friend Rocky Goode, a top longtime Southeastern Conference football referee, does a great job in hosting it, and the people who put it on are first class in every way. I was especially impressed with Volunteer TV Channel 8's Vice President of Community Promotions Dino Cartwright, who made everyone feel welcome and did a great job as Master of Ceremonies on the final day.

... to civilization, we headed down the scenic trail, the one that was supposed to take us up to the highest point in the park for a scenic view of the lake. Well, the trail certainly took us to the highest point in the park. The top of the mountain, however, did not live up to the scenic view we had been hoping for. The edge was covered in trees and I couldn't see the lake. We signed our name on the bench and headed down the ...
