... horn sheep strolling down the road. They suddenly climbed up the steep mountain side across from the general store and off they went.

Back at the campsite it was almost 6:30 so we wasted no time in making our campfire and and cooking hot dogs. This site is completely covered with towering Ponderosa pine trees.It was a spiritual experience to sit before the fire ,in the twilight, gazing up through the pines toward the heavens.

... but unfortunately no Coyote (we'll just have to come back!). It was easy to see why they call there the badlands, as it looked pretty inhospitable! A couple of hours later we arrived in Pierre, about 200 yards across the time zone to make us 6 hours behind the uk! We checked in but unfortunately our room wasn't what we had booked online. Trev complained to the hotel manager and his solution was to upgrade us to the Presidential Suite!!! The new room wasn't really a room, ...

... for our buffet dinner. There was buffalo stew, pork and beans, ribs, meatloaf. Was all very home cooked and it had a real family feel to the place. We ate too much but it was all delicious. Jen even tried something called Oreo fluff, which was different. After dinner it was a quick sit outside before boarding the bus and heading back via Mount Rushmore so we could see it at night. We arrived back at the hotel at 8.30 pm. We watched some TV and decided we should have a rest and not go ...

... one in the wild. Unfortunately,no such luck. However, as we reached the high prairie of our sheer climb into the Bighorn Forest, there thew were! Geula spotted 2 cows just off the highway munching on the greens. We parked the car and watched for a while - there was no one else in sight. They were fun to watch, much smaller than their male counterparts, but equally great. Amazing to think that we can spot these large and shy animals ...
