Time to get to work

I am so far behind with this blog. Partly, it's because we have traveled every single month during 2009. There's so much to tell & show that unless I write every week, I'm always several trips behind. The other problem is ...

Moral: Don't Let Ash Fall on You!

Ola Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.

We're still having a grand time!!!!!

Found a really cool red leather satchel to replace my old grey nylon one that has given me 9or10 years of service.
Florentine leather - so nice...
Also went to get 1 more tripe roll before leaving town and discovered they had beef too so tried one of them instead. Just as amazing as the tripe one!!!

Naples vs Pompeii...A Gritty Sense of Style

... book filled with images of Mount Vesuvius exploding and burying the nearby cities filled with panicking people running to an fro... It is more than I could have imagined... and even better being that I was able to share the experience with my young boys...

I do need to say that by the time our 4 days in Naples was coming to a close... we were all ready to escape the noisy caverns of the city... next stop... A farmstay on the edge of the Abruzzo National Park...

Ol' School Napoli.

... a brothel. The brothel was pretty funny to see. There was a penis statue on the wall outside the entrance, a penis on the sidewalk pointing towards the brothel, and there were paintings on the walls inside of sexual positions. Even the stone beds were still remaining inside the rooms.    After this, we headed straight to the thing that caused all of this damage - Mt. Vesuvius. Ari and I rode a bus up to the top and then hiked the rest of the way. At ...

Naples

Naples - 13th April 2008. We had a late start in Naples, as our trip did not leave until 9:30, the day was bright and sunny. We travelled to Sorrento for the first part of the tour , we had never been there before. Pleasantly surprised at the countryside and the fantastic coastal views. Spent a couple of hours free time shopping and looking around the old town. Next we had our Italian lunch a bit disappointing, we ...

Last Day in Napoli

After triapsing around in the middle of the day, trying to negotiate the horrible italian public transport system, we finally made it to Napoli. We are actually staying in a little suburb called Portici about 15 mins out of Napoli. It is much nicer as alex and i found out yesterday when we went to the city centre. It was like a third world country; really polluted and awful. Anyways, our hostel is really ...

Cafe and Margherita Pizza...Hello Naples

... to get a ticket. Its lucky I did too, because in Athens when i asked for the ticket i was quoted at 50 Euros (75$!!), but then later in Patras when i asked the same company for the same ticket, the woman behind the counter said that there was a special deal on, and that they coiuld sell me the ticket for only 35 Euro (50$). Just proves that you have to hunt around a bit for the best possible price. After another long overnight ferry ride, we ...
