... Cockermouth where Wordsworth was born. Grasmere was our next stop to see Dove Cottage where he lived. Grasmere is a lovely village but it was overrun by tourists (especially of the retired variety!) By this time we had had enough of being tourists and finding somewhere to park the car so we continued to Windermere. Our "Cobbler's Cottage" is right in the heart of town and we were very pleased to have arrived before our neighbours drove ...

Back on the bike we headed ...

We had only time for a short rest before dinner - the Angel Inn for a pub meal to finish our visit to the Lake District. Exhausted we headed back up the hill (again) having done about 19 km for the day. With this blog finished I should sleep well ...

The Lake District

... gardens, before heading back to find The Westbourne, which was down towards the lake at Bowness. We settled ourselves into a very nice room before heading down the hill to look at the lake. As it was close to 5 o'clock we actually got to see the lake in sunshine. It was really lovely. The local Thai restaurant was our dinner venue, and we had a lovely meal before retiring to our comfortable room, having decided to book another night so we enjoy this gorgeous place ...
