... and you had to watch the ground for every single step and stop completely to admire the stunning surrounding scenery. But that was luxury compared to later, after about 15 kms or so we had to climb out of the valley, and then started the most difficult and endless climb - again clambering up uneven stones. ... be quick on most of the track - it was mercilessly up and down or narrow or uneven, ending with a mammoth uphill, followed by the steepest descent I have ever experienced. It was a grassy path there, so not fatal to lose your footing, but took great concentration! And muscle power! But the scenery was out of this world, and the day was sunny and we were HOT! We are at this moment in our 4th train, travelling from Liverpool to St. Bees!! So thought I would write up the day so far, plus put in the things I forgot to say yesterday, as I can't concentrate on reading, as have to keep looking out the window at the gorgeous scenery - this green and pleasant land....
