Historical Traveler Reviews Genevieve Townhouse Brighton

Nicely run, comfortable hotel

from Jon Potter

We requested room 5 which turned out to be a very nice large, airy, light filled room with a balcony (only accessible via windows) with some views of the sea (if you look out on the balcony from an angle). The bathroom was basic but fine. Lovely cooked english breakfast available each morning in the basement. Free wireless internet available (although they seemed to be having some teething problems with it when we stayed in July 2005).

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but also left visitors to their own devices. Centrally located for all the major brighton sights (the pier and royal pavillion are less than 5 mins walk) but the location proved a bit noisy at night (mostly pub / club patrons so the noise seemed to die down around midnight).

Great place and Good breakfast

Ignore the American review, English breakfast is great..

Clean and friendly..

Good value...

Trendy, smart, clean and friendly - where else would you stay?

My partner and I have just had the pleasure of staying at the Genevieve Hotel, Brighton. We took a last minute booking (the last room available!) for the Easter Bank holiday weekend. It was great! We had already viewed the pictures on the website and were hoping for the room that we actually ended up staying in. The room had ample storage space for our bags/clothes/etc, a fabulous double shower and the biggest bed we've ever lost each other in!! It was so comfortable that it was very difficult to get up for breakfast, but we did. It was worth it: Andrew and Ken whip up a delicious full English Breakfast every day (though there is cereal available for the health conscious and croissants for the butter conscious!) and serve it up buffet style, allowing you as much, or little as your belly can consume! They also make a blinding cuppa and very tasty coffee to get your engine running first thing! They leave tasty little Kit Kats in the room after they've cleaned it thoroughly with a selection of teas and coffee... We were very well looked after.

The hotel foyer is well sign posted with up and coming events, as well as maps to the local amenities and attractions - thanks for the reminder on the clocks going forward, we'd have missed that! We found the double front doors a strain (under the influence of alcohol!) Dont lose your partners folks - they may have to phone you to get you to let them into the hotel, if you trap them between the 2 doors and go back into your room without realising...............................................................twice! Very secure though! Still we entertained Andrew and Ken on the CCTV - another fab safety feature that (though we embarrassed ourselves!) makes you feel really safe.

The hotel location is equidistant from the beach and the heart of Kemp Town, where there are loads of fab cafes, bars and restaurants to indulge yourself in.

All in all, a great few days and we will definitely be returning.

Thank you Andrew and Ken!

A lovely stay

from anonymous228

After the reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, we stayed one night at the Genevieve Hotel. It was truly lovely, very quiet, private, a charming little street. We stayed in the balcony room and had a lovely view of the sea and the pier. The breakfast apparently rotates btw a traditional English breakfast and croissants/fresh fruit. Unfortunately, we got the the English! Not a criticism of the food, simply a personal preference. The only other comment is that the bed was extremely, extremely firm. My partner loved it, but for me, it was just a little too hard -- something to think about. Despite that (!), I would definitely stay at the Genevieve again. P.S. Definitely check out the lovely Mediterranean cafe on the corner. Very delicious food, try the salad platter!

Nice place to stay

I have stayed in this hotel many times. The rooms are a good size and are really clean. The hotel is in a great location! The breakfast was average but apart from that a nice place to stay!

A Fantastic Weekend

from anonymous

We have just come back from a long weekend in which we stayed in one of the four poster rooms in the hotel.

The Genevieve has a warm, home from home environment, only added to by the friendly staff and their willingness to meet as many requests made by the guests as possible - including last minute ones for flowers in the room as a surprise gift.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms well-appointed with everything you could need and the food excellent.

We would reccomend this hotel to everyone looking for somewhere to stop over when visiting Brighton either on business or pleasure.

Friendly and inviting

The propriators have always been very friendly and helpfull on the few occasions I have stayed. The building looks splendid both from outside and in. On 1 visit We stayed in one of the 4 poster rooms, fabulous, in fact, probably the best 4 poster room we have stayed in.

A perfect place for a few days away.

Highly recommended.......

A home from home

from anonymous

I have stayed one or two nights a week, every week of this year, as a business stopover.

The away from home thing can be very tedious, but the boys have made me very welcome giving me the best that is available, despite my late bookings and some very late turning up.

Well done to them, and I recommend a stay at The Genevieve whenever you are in Brighton.

What a great stay!

Thanks to the guys at the Genevieve for helping make our stay in Brighton a great one! We stayed in the balcony room and it was big bright and clean with that fantastic superkingsize bed.

Breakfast was great, the guys were friendly and welcoming and the location couldn't be better, can't wait to return soon.

Fantastic weekend

from anonymous

We stayed at the Genevieve last weekend in a luxury four poster room. The room was very large (bigger then our own flat!) well appointed with a fantastic four poster bed. The hotel was very very clean with warm and friendly staff. We recommend to anyone who wants a good place to stay in brighton to Try the Genevieve first. They made our weekend!
