... was also an old hut that the workers that built the road had lived in and a memorial to those that had died during the construction. The tunnel at the top had icicles in it from water that had been dripping. At 5.00 pm it was 1.5C.


We stayed the night just at the bottom of the road in a car park as it was starting to get dark.

... than myself and about two other cars the whole place was empty. I bet the views from up here are just breathtaking but with all the mist I could not see a thing.

After an exciting two hours I finally headed back to the restaurant for some dinner and after that went for a wonderful evening walk into the surrounding mountains.

The weather now was much better and that freezing temp had now become a nice comfortable 13 Celsius.

Day 15 - Lienz to San Candido 44km We thought there might be a few hills today but it turned out to be a constant slight uphill, so we decided to test out some of our fitness and pushed ourselves along for the first 20km or so.
