Gringos just wanna have fun
... were removed by a few drinks... and some the staff working at the stands: these girls were moving their bodies in rhythm while cooking food and serving refreshments. That’s real party attitude! For me the highlight of the night was the Salsa demonstration by a couple of local dance teachers. A fantastic performance that reminds me one of the few goals I have for this year: learn to dance salsa. But first I’ll need a few strong drinks!

A real Mexican port
... Mazatlan. The ornate gothic interior of the church was as beautiful as you would expect from this cathedral in the heart of town. Again there was services going on in the church, it added the environment that showed the cathedral as a living structure of worship as well as a museum of religious statues and other artifacts.

... It was weird to see cars darting in and out in the dark. Pedestrians cross anywhere amongst the many lanes of cars. Somehow it all seems to work but I sure would not want to drive in Cairo. I would though like to go back some day and tour around the core of the city.
The Nile River cruise was a real highlight. And the smaller cities of Luxor and Aswan were cleaner and less hectic than Cairo. People everywhere were very friendly. When ...
Racing down the coast of Mexico
... as Devin drives next to me) I see a herd of cows crossing a dry river bed, Banyon trees (smaller then their Asian version), dry dirt, cacti and a purple, hazy sky as the sun sets. It’s quite a contrast.
