    Out of Beaver Creek we got our first views of the Tanana River. It is so wide. Silt and blowing sand also. Some of the drainages going into it are full of snow and ice. At one crossing of the Tanana over a half mile wide, there were large areas of snow and ice, about 2 or more feet deep. And it is 75 degrees here!

    We left on the free ferry from Dawson City to cross the Yukon. Just our small 24' Sprinter Van and a huge oil truck. Both front and rear ramps were down. The Yukon current is so strong the ferry crabs across sideways. The Canadian side of the road was fine. No major holes and there was evidence of recent snow plowing.
