... when I arrived in Buenos Aries expecting to meet my old chum Dave Houlker. Now, don't infer from that that Dave is in any way decrepit, he is a chipper thirty years old, but we go back a long way and he was good enough to suggest coming out to Argentina to see what all this travelling fuss was all about. I'd bought him a delicious bottle of rum from Fiji to say thanks and found upon my arrival in South America that it had smashed in transit and gone all over my travel bag. It now smelt ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina dantheeducator... Retiro Bus Station for an hour or so before finding a bus that was leaving at an hour corresponding with my travel plans. Stepping onto the bus line was like walking into a santuary. The seats were plus and leaned close to 180 degrees back...I had two seats to myself and had little to worry about except what movie they would play. The scenery up till sunset ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina gnsjourney... off and the ground had really filled up particularly in our area, everyone stands up, the singing starts properly and everyone gets involved - men old and young, women & children - flags are getting flown all around, balloons are waved. Then the jumping starts, everyone at the same time. The stadium is literrally rocking, it was awesome!!
Football was alright. Nothing amazing.
At half time, there was an almighty rush to sit down exactly ...
... the school was the night before, I was really organised. However, also the night before I had decided it a good idea to go on a pub crawl. I´m on holiday!
So I arrive 10 minutes late, or so I thought...
I walk into my class room only to find out that I was in fact 1hr 10 mins late. The bank holiday meant we started at 8am!!
Good first impressions given; the hangover, lateness, the look of a ´más o menos´ (more or less) a tramp ...
... Buenos Aires is home to some of the best cuisine in all of Latin America. Italian, German, Chinese, and of course, the typical Argentinean and Porteño (Buenos Aires-an) restaurants can be found within a single city block. Also, the stars of the Buenos Aires food scene- Parrillas, or Argentinean Gaucho grills are a dime per dozen.
Up until three hours ago at the time of this writing, for the best three-day Argentinian experience one could have, I would have ...
... pazind intrarile cavourilor.
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina dragoscurelea... sections of the grandstand that you can sit in. We were not in the die hard fanatics stand thank god. It was up the top, everyone packed in, standing and jumping together. It looked like an experience. Our stand was a bit quieter and we got to sit down. Absolutely exhausted at the end of the day. Home at about 8,30 and chilled out with our chicken soup and water mmmm yum! Hope my ramblings have made sense and I haven't bored you with ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina juddy79... so exhausted from the heat that I started to tune out much of it. The highlights were a copy of "The Kiss", one of my favourite pieces by Rodin (of course, I have about 10 favourite Rodin pieces), and some neat glass "paintings" by Jacques Bedel. It was a bit strange - Bedel's works were modern works and I appreciated them more than most of the classic works on display. Usually it's the opposite for me, as most modern art just seems ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina pwong... But, I was the only one with a working SIM card at the time. So, when I decided to give myself 20 minutes to get to the subway ("Subte" short for "Subterranean"), buy a ticket, learn how to use it/which direction to take, and then make it through 4 blocks of super-slow flea market patrons, I was very much in either "Kristin's-world-of-wishful-thinking-ti me-doesn't-matter-slash-I'll-make-it-in -time ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina sedebrouillier... aldri saa liten forelskelse er i ferd med aa utvikle seg! Sjarm! Nydelige gamle hus, smaa trange brosteinsgater, cafeer og stappfulle vintage-butikker paa hvert gatehjoerne! Her kunne jeg bodd! LETT!
