... in Arugam, me and Jerome went to watch Elephants with a local tuc tuc and rented motorbikes to go and explore some of the temples around the town. A couple of us had a cooking class with chef Shiva at Arugam cooking school he taught us how to make a chicken coconut curry and several side dishes, I would really recommend this, the food was great and the night was a lot of fun. ... a day or so. From here we took an amazing long train to Kandy which travels throught beautiful tea plantations, jungle and dramatic hill scenery.
In Kandy we visited the temple of the tooth - amazing! Its were one of buddahs teeth is kept. And we really enjoyed the city it was so beautiful with a big man made lake and lots of greenery. ... never will again but this was obviously a result of too close confinement in poor conditions. The poor animals were obviously out of their minds. There were many more examples and they were not attractive.

I spent a few hours there and saw some wonderful animals that I have little chance of seeing in the wild but I left feeling terribly sad somehow and that is not a normal emotionfor me in this most wonderful country. I shall leave it up to ...
