... Thanksgiving Day camping down in the canyon itself. It was a long walk down but there was absolutely no-one else around. Bliss. On our way down into the canyon, a dam worker drove past us and we had a chat. We told him we were camping out in the snow and he called us "ambitious sons-o-*****es." We thought that was hilarious.
We tried to follow the river through the canyon, but were stopped in our tracks by a steep climb called 'The Devil's Backbone'. The ...

... was at another favorite of ours, The Flying Fork restaurant. As usual the place was busy and the food didn't disappoint.

After dinner we discovered something that looked right out of Antoni Gaudi's handbook. A local artist by the name of Maya Jenson is creating with the help of the town and other artists what he calls the art alley. We are looking forward to returning and checking on the progress of this work ...

We were able to reach the BMW Dealer on Thursday morning and he was able to work the K1100 into their schedule. The tech determined that we were correct with our roadside work and the fan motor was bad. It's was the good news, the bad news was that they did not have one in stock. The technician working on the bike was a K bike rider and had a spare fan motor at home, and he would go and get it on his afternoon break. At about 3:00 he runs home and comes back ...

... on this day were in the mid 80's and lower 90' so we were operating in a relatively cool desert area. Our next gas stop went OK, but by the time we got yo Delta, UT we knew we had to do something to continue on. We took a break and tried to determine exactly was the problem. We began to troubleshoot the system and found we had no jumper wires to use for testing the motor. We talked to the ...

... Durango, Colorado, a lovely little ski-town and we fueled up the car and loaded the chilly bins and bags with enough food to last us for 4 days as we are not sure when we will next be near to a large grocery store. Then it was up through the Rocky Mountains for a couple of hours drive. We had no idea what a beautiful tour through the Rockies this was going to be. At our highest point we were over 11,000 feet (more than 2 miles) above sea level. In fact, despite ...
