Parky isn't it!

... was appraoching...

There are things one cannot get used to and that is the poverty, the size of the population and the many differences there are between Western and Indian Sub-Continent cultures. Most are welcome and liberating some are not but with every visit we learn more.... We may visit again in April just before our Visa's expire and going forward look towards Nepal, Tibet and the Punjab and that fantastic Golden Temple - who knows -

it's only a plane ride away..............

... night in Benaulim in a beach hut. The next day we take the train to Hampi where we will stay for four nights in this fantastic historic city. The 7 hour train journey promises to be a great experience as we plan to travel budget.

On our return from Hampi we will take a cab to north Goa to stay with Philip and Dinnis on the beach at Mandrem where we will hire the motorbike and stay for around 11 nights ...

On our way!

WOW what a week! No sooner had we unpacked our bags and repacked our belongings into storage we were packing again to start our adventure! We had only a very short time to catch up with family before we were saying our goodbyes again. Although we never thought we'd be ready our bags are finally packed and were on the train down to London Kings Cross. We are very tired so hope to get some sleep on the overnight flight to Nairobi.

VIking turds and York Minster

So after some very very fast driving down the M11, M6, M1 and A166 we made it down to York in about 4 hours.

First stop on the breif visit was to the river and then off to the Viking Center. Quite an experience! We learnt all about Viking history in York. We wnt on a time travelling machine back to the year 866. Unfortunately there was a little mistake and we over shot the target date by ...

A Right Time to Write:

... 8217;ve managed to wire into a tacky boom-box we bought from Asda about 2 years ago. I even lit 3 candles to add to the ambiance but I think the bottle of dark rum and 3 litres of cider are going to add more to the atmosphere than any of them.

The I-pod has now switched to the weird Spanish songs on the Devendrha Banhart album that send you off into dream world and my mind races, my lips curl up, and I smile. There are great things to come.

The Return Of The Natives

... We found our cabin then had a look round the boat, which was very spacious, with plenty of things to keep passengers entertained for the 24-hour crossing, including a small indoor swimming pool! We found the Whale Watch very interesting. A representative of the charity Orca is on every crossing, giving talks on the whales and dolphins that can be found in the Bay of Biscay, and keeping watch on deck, counting and logging all sightings. We saw a couple of ...

Pre-departure checks

This will be my first attempt at a travel blog, so I hope it is entertaining! I last visited Germany in 2006, visiting Leipzig and Dresden - both wonderful. But this time I'm off to Berlin for a long weekend of museums, galleries and culture. I was last there in 1990, so it's about time I returned there. I have my trusty motorhome, a little under three years old now, and I'll be travelling on 30th August ...

Edinburgh – Leeds – Milton Keynes

(Originally published at http://www.troysgonewalkabout.com)
< br>The sky was extremely grey, and it rained non-stop from the exact point at which we crossed back into England. The gloominess seemed to pervade our moods as well, as the navigator (yours truly) found it a little tough to direct Ali out of Edinburgh, and a wrong turn after stopping for petrol in Newcastle cost us more time. Even the mildly annoying habit of the car ...
