... created a safe harbour for Sooke. The lovely Geri and Doug at Salty Towers were supremely welcoming and we felt so at home in the lovely annex that had its own kitchen. We've made our own "fridge" box (coz we couldn't find a chiller bag anywhere in Bamfield) and have been keeping our salmon and halibut cold on our travels, so we were able to heat it up on the barbecue, throw together another salad and have yet another yummy dinner. Outside to my delight there were displays of Totem Poles from various regions of BC..
The great thing about this display was that each pole had full information about its history and meaning as the tribe and location it had come from.



What we had planned on being a two hour visit ended up being 4 hours...

... Van is quite hilly (like Melb) as opposed Toronto which was relatively flat. I hear a commotion behind me - this homeless guy is careering down the road in amongst the traffic with his shopping trolley acting as the engine and the wheeling bin at the back as the caboose and his rear foot being the break. Amazingly he made it down the hill in one piece and just wandered off on his mission.
