... carriage, cheering crowd and trumpets. They were still at it when we headed out for dinner, 3 hours later!
We are right on the harbour so there is always something happening.
Early morning again tomorrow to catch the Ferry back to Vancouver, where we board the ship.
Don't know if we will have wi-fi on board but may be able to connect when we make land.

Was nice to be home in our own bed, though I slept very well in Harvey and even awake with a few more aches here at home than in the RV.

Today Denis mentioned one of the places he thought the neatest on our trip-- Saguaro National Park-- it was indeed pretty cool there even though we only drove through it because of the government shutdown. I had intended to ask him what three or four images come first to his mind ...

... pouring rain at the Butchart Gardens. They hand out clear umbrellas so nothing stops the collection of the tickets. (When Jeff and I were in France and saw Monet's garden, Giverny, it was raining just like today....buckets.) Today is sightseeing in Victoria by land and by sea. Goal is to check out Victoria! We started the day by taking a 90 minute sightseeing tour. We saw Victoria from the highest point in the city, a castle, several shopping areas, the seashore, city park, and several marinas. We probably only saw a small area of this neat town. Then we got on Vancouver Island, but we spend all our time (besides the bus rides between the ferry terminal and Victoria) in Victoria which feels like this old city with new shops, a great little quay right in the centre of town, some early Americana style city hall and firebrigade building. It had a lovely bookstore run by a hippie, with used books and new books side by side ...
