      Up reasonably early to catch the train into Vienna from our hotel which was on the outskirts of the city. A lovely local gave us some tips about where to go in the old city. The town is based on circles and the inner circle is for walking around. Not a lot of traffic which is great. You do have to watch out for the guided tours though, they can walk really slowly and take up the whole footpath. It's now 2.30pm and are ...

      ... but the collections were a visual feast. He was a very forward thinking man the old Duke Albert. Collections of drawings by Michelangelo, Durer, and Raphael alongside paintings by Picasso, Monet, Manet, Matisse and Da Vinci gave us plenty to look at. So much to see and take in and so little time as we were to meet our friend Leena at noon.

      ... walking around with not many people around. In Vienna their biggest Christmas Markets are set under the City Hall or the Rathausplatz. It is a very impressive building and added to the atmosphere of the market. As we walked around enjoying the culinary delights and sipping on mulled wine it started to snow. We thought this was pretty cool. They had an area set up inside the town hall for children to make cookies, paint cups and decorate vases. No wonder it’s rated the ...
