After here we continued to the Capitol building which unfortunately is undergoing restoration along with the National Mall which is supposed to be completed by 2017 when the next president is sworn in. This meant that much of the Capitol dome is covered in scaffolding and when we did the tour inside, the capitol dome itself is also mostly covered up due to the restoration works, so you are unable to see the beautiful ceiling. ... again!). After a long, long walk, during which Jayne was sure someone kept moving the monument further away, the ticket office was reached. But all 1,000 tickets for the day had already been handed out, so we put that off for another day. On the way back to the Metro we came across an outdoor café, where we enjoyed a cold drink before continuing back to the campground. The evening concluded with our customary campfire.

Lesson of the day: Washington D.C. doesn't always have street signs on every corner. This makes navigating by foot somewhat difficult. I think I finally have an idea of where I'm going now though, so when I venture out tomorrow...

It came recommended from a friend of a friend and it was only a mile from our hotel so we bundled up and walked over for our 6:30 dinner reservation.
