... outhouse is clean! Rug in front, poster of trees inside along with an air freshener. Wow. We will be here 2 nights. Tomorrow we plan on a morning hike. Change of plans! Forrest fire on the other side of the ridge got out of hand. The orange smoke was ominous. We packed up and were on the road by 7:30 pm. Tried to go to Pagosa Springs but wolf creek pass was closed due to another fire. We went back to lake city and camped that night. Rolled in at ...

... that looked like they were still being worked. Lots of metal parts and pieces were abandoned along the side of the road...what they were for was anybodies guess. The views were spectacular as we climbed and climbed up the face of the mountains we were traveling through. The highest point that we actually saw a sign was 11,200 feet but we were higher than that a time or two. The jeep did an excellent job with the ruts and rocks in the road. At one point in the ...

... Restaurant. It will be interesting to see how it compares with our Friday night socials at DWLP! At 11:30 we were back at the rally hall to take a van ride into town (about 2 miles up the road...remember that figure for later on!) to take a tour of the Creede Underground Mining Museum. I had been under the impression that it was a real historical mine but instead it was a museum blasted out of solid rock cliff by three local ...

... Pictures were taken and you can see how handsome John is! Since I am writting the blog, you will mercifully not have to see me! As we headed to the hall we ran into several folks that we have met at other Born Free rallies and it was so good to see them. It is probably 500 yards to the rally hall from our camp site and it took 45 minutes to get there...sort of like walking from Bastion to the club!

After picture taking we came back to our rig to change ...
