Malaga II: Celebrating Holy Week on the beach
... so it took me about an hour to actually get back to the hostel (usually a 20 minute walk from where I was). By the end of the day (in combination with a busy day before), I had really had enough people time. I decided to have a quiet night in the hostel, just relaxing a bit before going to bed.

Malaga I: La costa del sol, sin sol
... dead in the sun. Even so, the crawl was really fun. They took us to about 6 different bars that all had something different going on. In one, we were serenaded by an older man singing "La Bamba". In another, all the drinks were named after pop culture icons. In the last one, they played all Spanish dance music. It was definitely a good experience, and a good way to meet a few people.
All in all, not a bad first day in Malaga. More to ...
Maroma - Robledal to Canillas Traverse
... is a very long one, first of all along the west ridge and then on a long winding zigzag down to the village. After leaving the ridge, it's obvious that this was once a very-well constructed mule trail - this is because it was the route used for bringing ice down the mountain before the days of refrigerators - a trade which presumably stopped fairly suddenly about 50 years ago. But the trail is still in remarkably good condition today, all things considered.

Because Pena Escrita is a zoo, there's a high fence all around it - which has to be crossed if you want to get to Navachica. Despite the lack of use this path obviously gets, it has been provided with a substantial metal ladder, enabling walkers to cross this high fence.
