We arrived at the caravan shortly after sundown, where Ramon was waiting for us after a day of boosting around the Coromandel on his resplendent motorbike. It’s safe to say he looked far more professional than us, and we were glad we didn’t have Frank with us to compare to the splendour of his bike!

Pippi picking and hot pools

So up goes John like a rocket, and he doesn't stop until he hits sky. Safety stops are for girls apparently.
I still hadn't stopped laughing by the time we reached the boat 10 mins later. He told me he had started diving in 1973 and came here most weeks. Can't argue with that.

To Port Jackson and back...
... season and these were in their full glory as we drove along this winding road. We filmed and took lots of photos from the passenger seat, swapping seats every hour so the other one could enjoy the vista. Whilst Lorna was driving we were held up by sheep (not at gunpoint) and being animal lovers we didn't mind this at all, while we were grinning and cooing over our woolly friends, a large Maori gentleman in his pick up truck rather sternly beeped his horn at us ...
Coromandel
... it is a pretty unique spot. You can hire a spate and dig a hole in a sand to create your own hot water spa. And trust me the water is very very hot.
Next stop was Waterworks, a funny little park mostly for children to see that water can create energy in very funny ways. Then I walked to a beautiful waterfall and the 600 year old Kauri trees.
The weather could have been better but I will be back next month and probably next year as well.

Whitianga
... I raised an eyebrow and looked them up and down; taking in the rather nice looking spade that the one was carrying. Ah. “Why don’t you just dig here and make my pool bigger,” I suggested with a rather coy smile.
