... to...Kirkland. We drove in on the Lake Road, with the lake to our left, and sandwich cafes on our right. At the end of the lake road was a shopping center with stores and a cafe. It was as if Kirkland had somehow been inhabited by strange-speaking people. What's odd is that we've seen this all over New Zealand; everywhere is like somewhere else. Wellington felt like Scotland, Napier felt like 1920s America, and now Kirk-po (as I have renamed Taupo).

... it was nice to be off the bus and just chilling out (and playing) for a while. Before long we were back on the road and soon arrived in Rotorua. Rotorua, known as Sulphur City, is the place where you can find hot springs, geysers and mud pools. It has a strange smell to it and its Maori name is Whangapipiro, meaning evil-smelling place. Thankfully there was no evil to be found and it turned out to be pretty cool.

It was a real dampner to our stay there and I later found out that Uncle Boy (our host) gave Jodi $200 and our bus driver gaver her vouchers and got her free accommodation.
