... on. I stopped in a parking, view point over looking the Isle of Skye, couldn't actually see Skye due to the low clouds. I ate my lunch and it almost felt like the car was being blown over, the winds were so strong.
I got to the SYHA Torriden at around 15:00 and it didn't open until 17:00 so I had a wee nap in the car park. I must be getting old, having an afternoon nap!!!
... Swedes, two ladies from Spain and Sandra another Aussie, so our fears were not met... they weren't all old and they weren't all Americans. However we did find that to begin with everyone was very quiet but Amy and I soon had them talking!! lol
We had to pick up the Swedes from Glasgow so missed a castle or two but the rest of the trip made up for the detour. Ross was full of information and history.. I think he reminds me of Rhonda, able to talk under water ...

The Isle of Skye was the highlight of the trip for me. We all remember the words to the Skye Boat song in which Bonnie Prince Charles fled Scotland but this island brought me close to tears a number of times as my senses were overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of nature.
The island was reached by ferry and we drove up to the capital Portree then did a trip through some of the most ...
... s not hard to run into, or arrange to meet up with them but it seemed to set the tone; at least on this trip.
Portree itself is essentially made up out of a single main street with a decent enough selection of cafes and pubs to choose from. It's a cute little harbour town but doesn't offer much else in the way of entertainment; not that you need more than the pubs for the couple of nights we stayed.
... The water is beautiful!
Next we saw the Urquhart Castle which I have enclosed a photo of as well as the Eilean Donan Castle which is the most photographed castle in all of Scotland. At Eilean Donan Castle we say a Scotsman dressed in kilt and traditional dress. No we didn't get a picture of him, darn it all! We also saw some beautiful ...
Scotland was a surprise. I had a great time up there and I've never been to anywhere that's so cold and wet in summer but at the same time full of breathtaking scenery.
A good and very generous friend, Rhett, had lent me his car for the week so I was about to drive up to Scotland ...

After this we went to the isle of Skye where our guide (Stevie) told us lots of stories about the wee folk (they sound a lot like leprechauns). They are also known as fairy folk, the little people, etc. However, we didn’t actually run into any of them while we were there which is probably a good thing. Skye itself is an ...
... photos of the previous night's dining experience's venue. We continued on around the headland for a little to Glendale from where we had a real good view of Harris Island across the Minch. Back to Dunvegan where we glimpsed the castle among the trees and down to Portree where we stopped at a theatre complex and restaurant just south of the town. Not sure whether to have lunch or morning tea. The decision was made with the ...

Although I haven't been to the Lakes District, I think this part of Scotland is extremely beautiful and is my favourite destination in the whole of the UK. I'd come back, as there are other places that I'd still like to see, and I'd be happy to spend more time relaxing around the Isle of Skye too.
Isle of Skye, United Kingdom kensjunkmail... spagetti dinner and in the morning the girls made a big breakfast. We had many good laughs and enjoyed Divos beautiful singing voice. What struck me was that even though I had just met these people a few hours before, they really felt like family at this moment. Its comforting when you are travelling and are moving in and out of places so quickly, to be able to actually connect with people on that level. As well, we noticed that for 1.90 you could buy a breakfast from the hostel ...
