Motor City to my Home Town

... spoken guy who starts taking the stinking hot alternator off the car. We start chatting and he has just returned from Australia his daughter lives in Ipswich and has just had a baby in July. It is a small world. Dan soon comes back with the alternator it costs 90 dollars I give him a hundred but he insists on giving me change he says you never know when I might be in Australia some time.

We have the car fixed an hour and half after we stopped and ...

Swimming in Lake Michigan

After leaving South Bend this morning, Daniel and I went to the very bottom of Michigan and visited a little beach town called New Buffalo. It was a very nice quaint town and had a little beach that everyone was at. We had to get in just to say that we've been in lake Michigan, so we put on some running shorts (which got us some awkward looks) and jumped in. After we took some pictures and ate some lunch there, we booked a hotel in Chicago and jumped in our cars heading west.

... of life. I cannot wait until I can go back. I have learned so much from my time in Africa. I have learned how much some of the stresses of life, really don't matter. I have learned how important relationships are and how unimportant material things are. Deciding to go to Kenya was the single best decision I have ever made. This journey has been the greatest experience I could have asked for and I am so grateful that it ...

... what it was like to be torn like this. On top of the emotional adjusting, this whole jet lag thing is HORRIBLE! My sleeping patterns are completely messed up. I think it will take a while.... Within the next few days I will get my pictures organized and online for you all to see. Then I will write my final message... That is so weird, considering it feels like I just wrote you my first entry a few days ago!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Love you all! Always, Erin

Recounting the joys of this trip

... when you were dating? When you could throw yourselves into each other's arms regardless of the time of day, without constantly listening for Junior's footsteps lest the apple of your eye finds you in a compromising position and asks in imperfect toddler English: "Mommy, Dada, are doing?" 4. To see and experience things we have not yet seen or experienced. Together! I hope this modest list does not offend avid museum-goers or architectural aficionados, who would, perhaps, cringe at ...

... could happen to me! I never once have forgotten that act of kindness towards me and told her about how it changed me and made me a better person. We had been speaking quit a bit between the middle of December and about the 17th. of February. In January she had a car accident and wound up in a coma for a couple of days, they sent her home after about a week and she was telling me how strange the whole thing was. Then she started having bad chest pains and had to go back ...

First, some very good news brought about by a very kind friend. Peter B. is graciously hosting my photos for me. You can find the nearly 2200 pictures I took at http://cjung.blogsite.org Thanks Pete! Now, some not so good news. I managed to make it through the entire nine months unscathed by illness or injury, up until the very last day. I haven't garnered much sympathy with the story, but I ...

Last Day with Placement

I had arranged to meet Meade at Audy home at noon, but I had never been there before and directions were kinda sketchy, so I left two hours early. I had good luck catching an express right away, but the blue line took a while. It was fun to ride the Douglas because where it splits from the Congress if goes WAY UP in the air above a freeway. You can't see the track below you, so it's like being on a flying train. Pretty cool. I found S ...

... interactive show, so many of us were called upon to participate. We all had nametags - the women were all Mary____. Our real names followed "Mary." The guys all had their real names followed by "Patrick." It was inevitable that there were a couple of "Patrick Patrick"s in the audience. All the actors had on thick Irish accents and were rude as could be. It was fantastic! One old hag didn't think so, however, and when the "minister" started making Pope ...

... soap and a towel. Fewer and fewer of them would do that, you could pay something like $15 for a day pass but they have terribly changed their original calling-they don't want no tramps , bums or homeless. Next it was to the laundromat and I was set for another week.
I crossed into the central time zone and found a spot on an abandoned road near the Indiana Dunes and National Lakeshore for the night.
