It has more of an angle than the Tower of Pisa, but is still standing. In the 1400's it is estimated that Bologna was a medieval New York, with up to 180 brick skyscrapers, and there are still a couple of dozen left scattered around town.

Thursday 11th June
The weather was sunny and warm as
we left the Passo della Futa campsite and headed towards Bologna. As we
descended from the mountains, the temperature climbed to the low 30's. We
stopped off in Maranello to visit the Ferrari museum. It was full of shiny red
cars! It had all the formula one cars and trophies as well as films and photos.
... cemetery last evening – all very sombre. In the wall as you entered the cemetery was a nest with some little chicks inside cheeping away for food. The campsite also has the remains of a tower which formed part of this defensive line.

I've been in Italy 4 weeks now. The first few days were busy and jet lagged. First stop Milan Expo which is about sustainable living. I had decided WWOOF (WorldwideWorkersOnOrganicFarms) was the way to language immersion in Italy. Expo was a good introduction. Permaculture is the byword. I read up.
