... wolf story. It was the largest city on earth at about 1,000,000 residents during the Imperial period, then vacated to 20,000 during the Middle Ages, back to about 3 million today. It has had so many rich historical periods that the museums are specialized – Prehistoric, Etruscan, Egyptian, Early Medieval, High Medieval, Papal Gifts, Construction discoveries, Municipal Gifts, Imperial Rome, Jewish, Public Baths, Renaissance ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy nietsreuef... available at every corner. This shop we found though must’ve had at least 48 flavors! We walked back to our hotel and I went with Amanda over to Lauren and Margaret’s room for a girls’ night, instead of going out with the other group to another bar. We looked at pictures and chatted, and after Amanda fell asleep on their beds we called it a night.
What a surreal and incredibly unforgettable birthday. Thank you everybody!!!
Rome, Italy holyfuck_93... you go back down they reroute you to an entrance inside the actual basilica, so its pretty convinient. The basilica puts everyother cathedral and church to shame, as it should, seeing that its the Pope's house of worship. Plus some where deep benith the church are the bone of the Apostle Peter. Seeing as I've been there before, I had a quick look around and notice that nothing had changed, except how much you could actually explore. When I was there in 2000, there ...
Rome, Italy tmcclurg... imagine my delight as i turned on italian TV to see united thrashing the italians 7-1! i kept it quiet though after the violence from italian fans the week prior. Another exhausting day, another night crashed out in bed. Wednesday was our last day and the day i was most looking forward to... the Colloseum :D We made the trip into the city and headed for the colleseo. No matter how many photos you see they can never prepare you for what a grand spectacle the colleseum is in ...
Rome, Italy thecrimson... trip from this chap Roberto, who was one of the folks my friend Claire introduced me to via e-mail, that I should try to stay near the Piazza Navona. After surfing the web for about 5 minutes I had a new realization. It was not just budget hotels near the train station that were expensive (and largely booked) the whole town is quite expensive (and largely booked). I finally found a decent looking place called the Hotel Traiana, which was very near the Forum and the Coliseum. It ...
Roma, Italy danschedlerSo! I left Denver the day after finals! what a whirl wind! I didn't even have time to plan my trip because I was doing the school thing! But no worries, I will figure it out along the way right? SO I got on the plane made my self comfortable and flew across the ocean to Rome. Upon Arrival I had a brief five minutes of panic! I just thought, Oh dear God! What have I gotten myself into. Quickly though I gained composure ...
Rome, Italy glblswshbcklr... and to go to a city. And after seeing the big shotgun hanging in the bathroom (see http://sdhpt1495.smugmug.com) I decided to leave IMMEDIATELY, and go as far away as possible. And that's how I got to Rome. In a very brief nutshell. And now I'm looking for a place to rent that will not use up my entire budget in one week. Not easy. I have GOT to tell you about my apartment-hunting experience in Rome. These people are a trip. A presto (talk to you soon).
Rome, Italy sarasworld... forget the Weaponry Room. Knives, swords, armory, all sort of bad ass ****, including a rack full of rifles from the 1660's. I spent half an hour in that room, mainly looking at all of the different sharp metal spears and other pointed objects and pondering why or how you would use each one. Some are wider perhaps to create more of a gauge, others long and thin to incise you straight through maybe, even more with a spike or other added bonus on one side... in which creative manner ...
Florence, Italy chet88... The figure is exquisitely carved from her beaded necklace to each curl. I still get complements on this ring when I wear it today, and it was only the equivalent of $45. After the Cameo factory, we went to Tivoli Gardens. This is a place where the wealthy ancient Romans would go during the hot summer months. The gardens are on the side of a hill and contain a series of fountains that are powered by gravity alone. At one place there is a small stage area. One wealthy ...
