... no lake. The guidebook should have paid more attention to the name of the trail . . . it was very pretty but not even large enough to earn the name "small pond". It was a pool of water, magnificently colored and yet perfectly clear, surrounded by moss-covered trees. The walk to the pool was fun, wobbly bridges over babbling brooks, then the trail wound up and down steep hills, through moss-covered forests. We stopped at one of many peat bogs for a closer look--very interesting landscape. A lunch stop at a popular remote seaside restaurant offered not only a great meal but exraordinary views of the coastline....and up-close photo ops of the sheep.

... on to the town of Killarney. Our driver backed this huge bus off of an extremely narrow and busy street into the hotel area. We could not believe how close he maneuvered to cars parked in the driveway, and yet....nary a scratch on anything!

We were greeted immediately by a group of jaunty carts and drivers which took our tribe into Killarney National Park. Riding in these carts ...

... It lead us down a paved road, then a dirt road past some houses and finally into a field. We had to climb over the farmers fence (a ladder was provided) and a sign warned us to mind the cattle-leave only but footprints. It was the most random path but we enjoyed walking through the fields that had the ocean to our left and mountains to our right. We finally came out to the main road that would take us back to town, but we weren't ready so we headed back the way ...

... I didn't have to ride my bike to school since I had 30 tissue boxes in my bags to carry. So I had the taxi pick me up. It was a very nice day.
