... Apparently all panels will undergo restoration work on a rotational basis. An audio guide gives a wonderful commentary on the religious significance of each panel as well as information about the two artists. Art historians cannot agree who painted which parts. The colours are beautifully preserved especially the blue, red and green of the clothes worn by Mary, Christ, and John the Baptist, in the middle top three panels. I've got a bit behind and still have a couple of days of ...

Our third day we hoped on a train and heading to Ghent. It was a bit of a mission from the station to the centre city and we probably should have got a tram but who knows how to use them.

Ghent, like Bruges, is very pretty and has a lot of lovely backdrops all along everywhere you look. It's not yet over run by tourists like Bruges so it was quite nice and quiet, pretty cruisey just walking round checking out the sights. We didn't do too much more really ...

... the bar for more beer, and Linde and Joke eventually joined us. After another 750ml bottle of beer, and then another 250ml glass, we started heading over to where Lynn’s faculty party was being held. By this stage, I definitely wasn’t sober. I walked into this old factory that was full of university students, got some beer tokens, and drank more. I discovered an easy way to order beer in Belgium: Specify how many beers ...
