    ... per 24 hours in the Marriott car park!) and walked the 5 minutes to our hotel. we had visited the Marriott for a drink last time we were here and loved it. it has a huge curved glass wall which lights up in different colours; very appropriate this weekend! We checked in and wandered out!

    ... all cathedrals look the same, some are just larger than others. The only reason to visit a cathedral like St. Bavo's is to see a masterpiece medieval painting like the Mystic Lamb. There is also a large painting by Paul Rubens that is quite beautiful. The Mystic Lamb has had an interesting history, since it is a Catholic altarpiece it survived the Protestant reformation, it fell into French hands ...

    Bus to center of city, take 2 hour Walking tour of this very old city. Lots of spires everywhere. Went into St Baafs Cathedral to see Jan Van Eyck's 'Adoration of the Lamb' which is symbolic of Jesus' sacrifice . Windy and very cold today. Back on bus to ship.     ... or a panic attack but I flew out of bed to the WC to toss my cookies. Booo. First night of my adventure and my head is in a toilet. My roomies (laura and andrea from Colorado) took care of me and fixed me up with vitamin C and flu meds just in case it wasn't my dinner. What sweet hearts. :)

    ... hand is bustling with tourists but still fun and relaxing coffee shops with the usual assoftment of chocolates!

    During our day in Brussels we joined a walking tour of the "old town" and walked, and walked, and walked - for 4 hours! - no need to worry about eating chocolates today ;) Extremely interesting hearing about the royal history and how it has influenced the government through generations.
