We then returned to the motel for the evening to read and watch ...
... with John Grisham's "A Time To Kill" and other films like "My Dog Skip".
The visitor center in Canton will tell you that General Sherman stayed in a house here during the Civil War and that is why he spared the Court House.
There really isn't much to do in Canton, but I would come back just to go on the Nissan Plant tour. Tomorrow it is on to Memphis and our visit with Elvis!!
... apart from some nice architecture and a few green spaces within the city. Nonetheless, we explored the city for a few hours before retiring to our hotel which had a swimming pool and cable TV!!
A bit broken from New Orleans we spent the late afternoon in the pool, warmed up a couple of microwave meals and watched some dodgy American films.... just what the doctor ordered!!
The next day we left Jackson for Clarksdale, home of the Delta Blues!
... war speech. Ed wouldn't let me run through. We headed to MR OBarmas house and a little selfie outside I did send him a heads up we was calling by but apparently he didn't receive it ??and i was just another tourist taking a picture of his house! Shame he's really missed out on meeting me! A little squirrel ran upto us and ed put his hand out he gave it a a little sniff sniff i quickly rammed my hands in eds bag to get him some food the rattle of the bag he new what was coming ...
After the battlefield, I travelled back to Jackson to take in the old city..
I visited the Old Capitol museum, which was full of elderly people on a day out.... One lady introduced herself, on hearing my accent, as a McCracken.....
The museum is very good and has been restored twice. It's another false stone fronted one and based on Greek architecture.. The Americans have a knack for making new things look very old and dated...
