George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States using this Masonic Bible which was borrowed from St John's Lodge No. 1, chartered under the Grand Lodge of the State of New York, F. & A.M.

Redevelopment and restoration beginning in the 1970s have turned the community into one of top Texas tourist destinations with 19th century homes today bed and breakfast attractions. Gruene was annexed into the city of New Braunfels in 1979.

... in large weekend crowds with sometimes continuous performances. Some of the top names in country and western swing music regularly perform here.

We left Luckenbach and ventured south through Kerrville toward Bandera. We detoured to visit my great uncle's former ranch on Turtle Creek where I visited many times as a youth to hunt, fish and swim in the spring fed crystal clear water.

... daylight was getting in short supply and the goal of getting to town before dark was a challenge.

After checking in, we cruised Main Street, had a few drinks at the Buffalo Nickel Bar on S. Llano and headed to Silver Creek Beer Garden for dinner...and a few more drinks.

Luckily, most of the shops along Main Street had closed by the time we finished dinner so we were done for the day.

... to see the "real pros" in action (This was a UCI Pro Race with the Pro Teams racing. We got to see Emily Batty, Judy Freeman, Jerimiah Bishop, Todd Wells, Sam Shultz and more. One of our local guys, Tristan Uhl, placed 11th out of 63 against the Pros! Lots of fun was had by all. I think my sister took some pics, I'll have to post them up later. Next up, Abilene, TX.
