Disembarked 10ish today at Abel Point Marina. Showered at the marina and made our way to the airport. Flew Jet Star #833 to Brisbane where we picked up a rental car and negotiated our way to our B&B - a 1877 house right by the train station, formerly owned by the railway commissioner.

We learnt from our tour guide that the work force who put the building together were all convicts sent over from the UK. ... much to do here but relax by day and party by night. I did get a little detox in which was needed. Took a hike on one of the local hills which acted as a anti-aircraft gun station in WW2. On the way up we saw some koalas dosing in the tree which was cool as I hadn't seen any so far. We were lucky enough to meet an ex Australian forces soldier while walking and he have us a free tour of the gun stations and communication ...

The best part of Brisbane by far though was the South Bank Parklands. It’s an absolutely gorgeous place to while a day away. They have built a fake beach and lagoon right in the middle of the city so while your laying on the white soft sand or playing in the 'sea’, you have buildings and skyscrapers in front of you!

While we were in Bris we also went on the hostel organised pub crawl which consisted of playing drinking ...

We left the white, sandy beaches on the Gold Coast and drove up to Brisbane. There we stayed 2 nights with my sister's friends Amy and Olly.
