... pushed and shoved all around. (enter the mosh pit type atmosphere)

Oh yes and I forgot to mention that a large majority of the people were running and celebrating barefoot.
On a dirt road.

Real soon after we started running we came and passed by a different group.
The rasta-farinan group.
They were dressed in military garb and were holding up (which I was not aware were fake at the time) machine guns.
If I thought the pushing and shoving ...
Teshie, Ghana reneemarieSo after we got done visiting the Cape Coast and Elmina slave castles we went to the hotel that we were going to stay in.
It was about ten minutes or so outside of Cape Coast in what I considered to be a pretty legitimate rain forest, jungle sort of situation.
It was called the Hans Cottage Botel.
Yes.
Not a Hotel or a Motel.
Botel.
A Botel, apparently, is a hotel that sits over water.
Which seems pretty neat.
Until they told us that there were crocodiles in the ...
Cape Coast, Ghana reneemarieThis weekend the international student group that I belong to took a trip to the central region of Ghana.
IT WAS AWESOME.
We left on Saturday morning at 6:00 and drove to Cape Coast (a city in the central region) It took about three hours to get there from Legon (where the college is).

Most Ghanaians speak twi (which is pronounced tree) and in twi the word for white is abrouni.
When the international student group takes us on these trips they almost ...

Cape Coast, Ghana derekgray... renovation in preparation for Obama’s visit on Friday. There seems to be a lot of beautification going on for that purpose. Heading home we got into a major traffic jam due to some accidents on the road. We ended up going much further into the city than we needed to, trying to get to our hotel. At one point there were four rows of cars in a roundabout meant for one lane of traffic nobody going anywhere. Finally we arrived at the hotel; tired ant ready for bed.
Cape Coast, Central, Ghana annanddaveIt was after dark when we arrived at the beach side resort of Green Turtle Lodge, near Dixcove. Just getting here turned out to be an adventure, the truck managed to knock down every low lying power cable that crossed the road. I guess the locals were not happy. Not only were there problems with the power cables but the muddy dirt road caused a few moments that could have ended up with us being stuck for a long time, luckily we only got stuck when we were in the ...
Cape Coast, Ghana bradmccartney... Grove Resort and Beach, but for $3, they let us use their pool for the day. I know, we've been in-country for less than a week and already we're going soft. But it was so nice! It was no 5-star Caribbean joint, but it had cool water and you could immerse your entire body in it. Ahhhh...On a side note, the toilets were also fabulous. We lounged around the pool, wandered down to the beach (too rough for swimming), and bought a bottle of water for 13 times what ...

As was fashionable at the time, they constructed a fort here through which they processed slaves and other goods for their growing empire. No fewer than forty such forts were constructed along 500km of shoreline by assorted European powers at the time. Unfortunately, the Dutch proved poor defenders of their ...

Cape Coast, Ghana nettan... that took place h**e during British rule, Ghanaians are also taught about the many positive things that Europeans brought to their society - education, judicial and political systems.
