... gone and it's warm again. The closer I get to the lake and the trees - Forest Lake, how original - the wind is being replaced by mosquitoes. Clouds of them. I'm utterly exhausted by the time I pitch camp. Tonight I might sleep better. My tent is positioned on a slight incline, I expect to be curled up in a ball at one end by morning. ... us and it became rather comical to see how many people we could pack into the small area. Needless to say it was a good way to get to know some of the other people doing the ride while watching the other poor souls continue their wet march to the Vail Pass climb. After about 30 minutes of this one of the people on the outer edge of our huddle looked behind him and exclaimed that he could see some blue sky approaching. Gordy was getting pretty twitchy ...

    ... on that ride!

As the sun continued to rise we were surprised by how much warmer it was in the sky than on the ground. We were sad as the ride came to an end, and a little bit surprised as they announced we were preparing for landing as we hovered above a neighborhood of summer homes for the rich and the famous. Karyn grew a little anxious as they told everyone to brace their knees, and that they should be prepared to drag on ...
