... there are giant Redwoods and Oak trees that were petrified. These trees were up to 3 million years old. The forest looked very similar to the one near Elisa's parents place in Sant Quirze. This was today's geology lesson for Elena and Ariana.

Tomorrow we will have a tasting of Steve's wine, which we are really looking forward to.

Very nice food and wine. Good company.

Stopped at Sonama for a look around town and a visit to the cheese fsctory. This was dinner.....

Sat outside hotel in the garden area with Marg and Ruby for a couple of hours and a few wines.
Great evening.

... a wine-making region in France - it was a CASTLE!!!! There was a castle in Napa and we hadn't visited it???? Such an oversight would not happen on our watch, and so Castello Di Amoroso is going to be our first stop tomorrow. I mean, we have to, right?

I am so happy that our day in Napa turned out so great - the dicey start had me worried for a while! But now, with a belly full of Napa wine, I am tired. And it's time to take a napa.

... Manor where we stayed for two nights. The manor is a restored mansion with 10 bedrooms, on the corner of Brown and Oak Street close to downtown Napa.

In keeping with the heritage of the building, you can imagine the interiors - Statues, grandfather clocks, grand piano, antiques, timber furnishings, floral wallpapers, poster beds and fireplaces. It was however, just lovely and the porch overlooking the front rose garden a great way ...

... really enjoyed the motorized ferry transport from the North Bay to San Francisco. When we landed at the Ferry Building, we indulged in "sustainable" burgers that we got on the house since I mentioned it was Matt's birthday. Then on the ride home, we ran into Francis and had a spontaneous Surly roundevous at Crissy Field. Overall, we felt that these first four days of travel by bicycle were quite successful and a huge confidence builder for ...
