Started the day by venturing upwards. Way upwards. Visiting hallowed Hanks/Ryan country. The Empire State Building. Magical stuff. The sun was shining so making our views stunningly beautiful. At the beautiful Cave Lake State Park in Ely, Nevada, we encountered our first pinyon pine and juniper woodland, of which we would see many more throughout our extended stay at higher elevations. One more day of driving, and we would come within sight of the Sierra Nevada. It took us ten days.
