... Stonegarth in Keswick. It is a lovely B and B. The bathroom has a spa bath and walk in shower and the mirror becomes a TV - haven't seen this before. We had a cup of coffee and then went for a walk into Keswick. We found a map which showed it would take us a while to walk to the lake known as Derwent Water so we turned around and went to an Italian restaurant, Casa Bella, for a pizza. We walked back to the B and B and watched yet another Grand ...
... but we headed straight for the ferry across the lake then took a luxurious bus ride up to Hilltop. This is the home and garden of Beatrix Potter, and now a National Trust exhibit though still a working farm. The house is set out just as Miss Potter wanted it, with rooms you can walk through, full of her favourite things, drawings, letters and paintings.

... the “Tiny B&B” in the middle of Kendal. It was indeed tiny, and charming – a bit like a hobbit hole in a side alley off the main street, and around 400 years old. To cap things off our bag hadn’t been delivered because the Sherpa Van service had broken down, but fortunately we didn’t have to wait too long for some fresh clothes.
The next day is the last of the Dales Way, and a short one of around 10km to Windermere.
... House or Anne Hathaway's as a result. However, we did glimpse the back view of the house as we walked back to the car. Now headed for Newport - on the M5 and scooting along at 120km. We commented this morning that we have not seen any hoons since we've been here and put this down to the fact that you can drive at a speed that's very reasonable. Major roads here are excellent. Very reasonable rate, charming family-run (I think) hotel, decent, clean room.
