We didn't linger in Ouray, since it was getting late ... I realized I remembered it because of the hot springs. Water and me -- it never fails.

Driving back across the road, we encountered the work of two avalanches, neither of which was there on our way out.

Arrived Durango just as it was getting dark. Dinner, then work, then bed.

Stunning ... and a great companion piece to Canyon de Chelly. While the latter is spectacular geologically, Mesa Verde is spectacular archaeologically. So many cliff dwellings scattered throughout the park. Although several roads and trails were closed, we managed to hit all of the highlights ...

We had an awesome day today. We are in a small town called Durango in Colorado up in the mountains. It's more of a ski resort kind of town. We got a group photo taken with the Rocky Mountains in the background. It snowed the night before we arrived so there is fluffy white soft snow everywhere so the conditions were perfect for snowmobiling!

... of guardrails". What a challenge, on a couple of the curves I'm sure that I had the bike leaned over so far that I was going to scrape the foot pegs on the road. But it was worth it! The scenery was fabulous, and they even had places to stop and take pictures. The journey was made more challenging with temperature changes. The ride was going up and down from a series of Passes with Red Mountain Pass being the highest at 11,000 ft. Of course ...

... safe. It's protected. But what good is a life lived alone? Safe? In a sense. Satisfying? Hardly.

My mom seems to always know someone who is sick or dying. Practically every year she knows someone who finds out they have cancer, or perhaps someone who has lost the battle. "But I have a lot of friends", she says. The only way to keep from seeing loved ones suffer and die is to not have loved ones at all. And what kind of life is that?
