... going down the hill. It had been snowing pretty good all morning, but after lunch, the snow was getting harder. Additionally, it was very cold and extremely windy, especially at the top of the mountain. Coming up on the ski lifts, I thought we were going to be blown out a couple times. At one point, the wind was so strong that it literally blew me uphill! The strong winds blowing snow around made visibility very poor and the loud ...

Walt had a chance to mount the cab and take pix there before we left and the crew were generous with their time in conversation. Seems the D&G is believed to be the likely private successor to the State as owner and operator of the Cass Scenic RR... and that the D&G (which is commonly owned with ...

... hold the camera steady while standing on a movable bridge so we took the train pics from solid ground. Then we rode the afternoon departure which included two restored Wabash cabooses now rented as overnite (or longer) lodging at the end of the (currently) usable track, about 10 miles from the terminal. It's a pretty ride, with plenty of curves to offer additional photo opportunities. The cabooses get set off on stub tracks beside the Greenbrier River... and then it's back to ...
