... in Durban is limited. Despite almost constant rain, I've enjoyed walking around the city a bit and visiting several small museums.
Tomorrow I'm heading up into the northern Drakensberg mountains, where I hope the weather will be good enough to hike and ride horseback over the next couple of days.
... Intent on showing off my wond**ful lonely planet map reading skills I managed to guid myslef, Dean, Ella the tall dutchy and Monica into the most dang**ous part of the city. Its shocking that in Durban, the roughest area is only a block away from the beach and one of the smartest areas, the new Usharka complex. As we minced past big gangs of scruffy black lads playing illegal gambling games on the pavement we new something was amiss, but when a woman and h** moth ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa jordanblair100... all bad! I am such a considerate guy hooking people up, should start my own matchmaking service!!
Right Friday chilled with the southern Americans went to the racetrack and around town. I ended up starting drink at the other hostel watching Murray lose! anyway this was the Americans last night and by now I was thinking of doing a Robbie and ditching everything (he did this six years ago and is still in south Africa). I think i ...
... and then she said we could have the big bed and Phumeza and her six year old daughter slept in the small one- much more comfortable for us! During the day on Tuesday and Wednesday we went with Phumeza on all of her visits. She walks pretty far to get to different homesteads and visit families in the area. The system is definitely better than nothing, but it was also easy to see a ton of improvements that could make it a lot more ...

South Africa is really... white. Durban is dangerous at night and there
is a huge mall. They have blackouts every day for two hours at two in
the afternoon, and even the malls shut down.
... and if I could take their picture. All but one of them eagerly consented. They were all amazed, including the shy one, when I showed them their picture on the back of my camera. We walked down to Thami's home, and I had the chance to meet his two sisters and father. Having never had a white person in his home, Thami's father, who wasn't at home when we first arrived, thought that I had come to take his home away ...
Durban, South Africa vangorp... Perhaps they should take their business skills to The Dragons Den. It worked on me. Special mention in Coffee Bay should go to a couple of hedonistic Irish teachers, a bare footed American and a party of South African students who didn't seem either willing or capable of sleeping. We're in KwaZulu-Natal now, land of Michael Caine, assigais and the biggest port in Africa. And with that useless fact of they day I'm off to enjoy the sun. Take care all, Pete
Durban, South Africa petewaters... up at the doorstep and decided to stay indefinitely, in order to help the greater Xhosa culture bootstrap itself out of its moneyless predicament. He's learning how to farm in order to, within 20 years or so I guess, create a communal, profit-turning, self-sustaining farm that is run by the Xhosa people. He spoke very ideally and was rather taken back when I was asking him practical questions like, "how long are you staying?" and, "so, what exactly would you like to see ...
Durban, South Africa eadamson... He draws his gun and pursues the man and snacks. Before my eyes was yet another stereotype of the risky place realized in my short visit. But reducing South Africa to these experiences is at least at dangerous. ********* Every weekend, they gather at one of the piers on North Beach to try their luck. This particular Friday, not only is Leanne the only one in her immediate family to catch any fish but she has reeled in two to boot. They are about four to five inches ...
