What Is That Noise?
The El Paradero is overall a nice place within a 10 minute walk (maybe a bit less) to the Plaza in Santa Fe. Have to cross one very busy street, but not too big of a deal. Parking is in the back of this pretty antique house. Breakfast was good and tea time, too. Hosts were nice, but didn't interact much, but we don't care if they do or don't, but some travelers do.
Our room was on ground level; Room 4. Was cozy & nice. Had an easy-to-lite gas fireplace, Comfy bed. No TV, which was ok. Was very small, which I knew but it didn't sink in 'til I was there in-person. If you are obese, this place will be too small in terms of the shower size and the chairs by the fireplace. Shower was dinky; you'll wack your hand or arm on side for sure while in it. Hard to apply make-up in the dimly lit small mirror. Overall, if you don't have too many space or make-up requirements, this will be a nice room for you and one other. That is....
If you want a restful nite's sleep, don't pick this room. We went in January '05 and I'm assuming it was the HVAC system on the roof that boomed, bammed & banged on 30 minute intervals throughout the night. I was so glad we only had to sleep here 2 nights! What a disappointment because we liked everything else about the place. Peeked in a few of the empty rooms and they were okay, but I thought our room was the cutest. If you are a heavy sleeper or visit when the heater is off for the season, you'll like this room. And the price was good for location and food.
A Real Gem!
My wife and I travel a lot, and El Paradero is one of our favorite places we've visited. We vacation in Santa Fe at least once a year, and this hidden gem feels like our home there. The building and rooms really feel like old Santa Fe, and are warm and beautifully decorated. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, and their full breakfasts and wonderful tea-time treats are to die for...be prepared to eat well! It's also a real bargain at its prices given the quality of the rooms and service, and its great downtown location. They could charge me twice as much and I wouldn't complain!
Just got back
This place was everything the web-page says! We knew before checking in that there was no TV, so we made sure we found other ways to keep ourselves busy. That included having afternoon tea in the kitchen area-believe me-you do not want to miss the baked goods! Speaking of baked goods, they served a great bread with breakfast one morning-we had seconds, thirds, and more! The place is in walking distance of at least two great restaurants, two bars with live music, a mall, and some other shops.
Great Experience!!
We stayed at El Paradero for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised. Although the room was very modestly priced, it was beautifully appointed, had a very comfortable bed (and nice comforter), beautiful tile-work in the bathroom and had a lovely wood burning adobe fireplace.
Breakfast consisted of a very tasty hot entree, a selection of pastries and various cereals. Everyone on staff was incredibly nice and helpful.
We thought the El Paradero was one of the best all around (price, room, service etc.) B&B's that we have ever stayed at!
El paradero b/b
our third stop on this trip -- the room we had at the el paradero was just ok -- know there were bigger rooms on site we just didnt get one -- the sink was in the bedroom so getting up early without waking the wife was impossible --- i can only describe the service as indifferent -- the staff served breakfast and took the dishes away --no chatter - no interest in other then doing their job- by the way there is no tv in the room so watching the news before turning out the light is impossible--there was one in the common area
my wife was effected by the altitude and i took her to the emergency room to be safe - the staff at st vincents are wonderful --they treat all women as though they have had a heart attack and then rule it out step by step - she was in for 24 hrs and had a ton of tests ---and it turned out to be altitiude related --the moral of the story is dont overdo the walking and drink plenty of water-
plenty of shopping and really easy to get around-- didnt have a bad meal in santa fe ---at at the san francisco bar/grill at the plaza for lunch---the ore house on the plaza for dinner- the guadalupe cafe next to the capitol for lunch --went to the coyote club for drinks and for one of the best meals i ever ate at geronomos --very expensive but very worth in-- this was the only resturant where there was any sign of people dressing up (wearing slacks instead of shorts)
in spite of the above my wife felt this was the best city
You'll love this place!
A fantastic B & B! We cannot recommend this place more highly. No negatives to speak of.
The perfect Santa Fe B & B: a traditional adobe house, very quaint and nicely decorated. Our room had beautiful amenities. Friendly, helpful, professional staff. The owners, Jen & Matt, gave us great tips on touring Santa Fe. The breakfast is absolutely delicious. Fantastic location- an easy walk of just a few blocks to the heart of the historic downtown.
This B & B really is wonderful. We stay there every time we return to Santa Fe, and have recommended it to friends and family, who have returned with similar raves. A great find!
Just wonderful!
Excellent B&B within walking distance of the plaza. Very quiet. Rooms were clean and charming. Breakfasts were hot and delicious. Staff was gracious and accomodating (rustled me up a different gourmet breakfast because of allergies cheerfully). Owner is young and enthusiastic--booking was a dream as availability is updated online daily so you can see what's available without too much back and forth on the phone. Also pictures online pretty much do the rooms justice (some of them actually looked NICER in person). Great value, I'd definitely stay here again!
No place like home (except El Paradero)
Karen and I were married in Santa Fe, April 6, 1984. We spent our honeymoon at El Paradero
and have been back many times sense. We always try to stay in a different room each trip and
have never been disappointed. The charm of Santa Fe and NM fills each room. Breakfast is never the same two days in a row and it is always prepared fresh.
The only thing about El Paradero that we do not like is having to leave when our vacation is over.

Into The Heart of The Southwest
The balloons were once again filling Albuquerque's morning sky when we awoke. Another morning launch had gone off into a beautiful blue sky. The small storm from the previous evening had blown out as quickly as it had blown in, leaving another clear high desert morning to enjoy. Since we had several things to see this day, we packed up our stuff …
If It's 2 P.M., We Must Be At....
Light from the rising sun filled our room to awaken us. While we were cursing ourselves for leaving a blind open on an east-facing window, we were glad to get up a little earlier than usual in order to get a jump on the day. Our plan was to walk around Old Town Santa Fe to see as many sights and stores as we could.
We headed downstairs to …
Snow?! Are We Sure We're In The Desert??
The sun didn't seem as bright coming through our window as it had the previous day. It didn’t take long to find out why there was less sunlight. The sky was dotted with white, puffy clouds that are typically present after a storm. While it wasn’t surprising to see those clouds after the previous night’s rain, the light dusting of …
