We went on a beautiful day and explored the old city, the wall (muralla) and had a lot of fun going up to the top of the turrets! Then we went for lunch in the old city at a cute cafe called El Bistro. I had delicious carrot soup, and roast pork, and some Belgian beer! Ever since Brussels I've been addicted!
Then it was time to catch the train back to Barcelona!

Girona and Figures
... that had a long, brick wall to walk along and watch towers that we could climb up. From the view at the top of the fort, we could see the snowy covered French Alps in the distance. My first sighting of another country! We spent the day exploring the town and stopping cafes in for Irish coffee when needed to warm up a bit. Can't Find the Words To Say
I am absolutely obsessed with this place.
You can see over the entire town. We were there right around sunset, and the way it painted parts of buildings gold was absolutely beautiful. It was such a reminder to me that this whole thing is His. It amazes me how many times in my life the words "wow" and "beautiful" seem so lacking and fail to describe the beauty of this world. He has created such a masterpiece.

Although it was late afternoon when we left, we then went down to a village called Roses, which was lovely. The church on the top of the hill dates from the 17th century and has survived the marauding hooligans from the civil war.
We walked up along the waterfront, along the Mediterranean Sea, and took many photos of the pretty surroundings.

Trips from Lagrasse
... and we found the service a little stuffy (perhaps close to the cliché of an old-school fancy French restaurant).
After two delightful months in the south of France, we were trying hard to keep a sense of perspective. To steal a phrase from a friend (thanks Dav), it’s a ‘first world problem’ when you’re main complaint for the day is that the three Michelin star restaurant you dined at didn’t completely knock your socks off!
