Historical Traveler Reviews El Farolito B&B Inn Santa Fe
Creative and competent
The people running El Farolito not only have excellent taste and a knack getting things right -- amenities, comfort details, healthy open breakfast -- but also know how to make the place comfortable and unique.
Most of the eight or so "rooms" are in casitas, so you might have one neighbor at best; ours had none, plus a tiny patio off the room for drinks, etc. In Sept '04, our house had a fridge and bar sink and Italian coffee with coffeemaker. Good paintings, some other nice art; very unique furnishings throughout.
Cool, free-minded girl handling the day-to-day stuff for everybody with enthusiasm. Very professional performance by all.
Maybe not a quick hop to the Plaza -- set yourself for a 10-15 minute walk -- however parking there was much easier than purported. But that wastes gas!
What a room!!!!!!
We will stay here again...the room was cozy with the kiva fireplace and the decor was great. Breakfast was great and the people are so friendly. It was also close to the plaza. After two years, we plan to go back next year.
Beware of making a reservation!
BEWARE OF MAKING RESERVATIONS HERE!!!!!
I made a reservation one and a half months in advance, and when i had to cancel 2 days later, they still charged me 25 dollars!!! The owner was very smug, and would not budge, even though it's one and a half months before i made my reservation!
So beware!
A great place to experience New Mexico!
My husband and I had a lovely time in Santa Fe. Wayne (one of the owners) was a wealth of knowledge and had excellent suggestions for what to do and see during our visit.
His recommendation to go to the 'Bronze pourings' was a hit and especially the hint to have a picnic lunch in the gardens at the Foundry.
El Farolito is a lovely and well appointed inn. Wayne and his partner have done an excellent job in decorating the place, the main building and each casita has original artwork. However, I found the housekeeping needed a bit more attention to details such as daily replenishing of soaps etc. and the breakfast is an extended continental breakfast so not alot of choice if one is looking for a hot breakfast.
The location is excellent. A short walk into the main square so daily trips are easy to make. It is away from all the action so keep that in mind if you want a place that's in the thick of things there are others but this was a perfect location for us so we could choose when to be part of the action.
If you visit Santa Fe you must try RIBS & BUGERS at 709 Don Cubero - it a great stop for cheap ribs and burgers - delicious! Live music, great staff and good food. Nice break from the green chilies. They were waiting for their liquor license when we visited them, so maybe have your glass of wine before you go. It's within walking distance from El Farolito. Enjoy!
Charming, beautiful, just right
We stayed at El Farolito in May 2003, and I can't say enough about what a lovely place it is. The casita was cozy and comfortable, with its own kiva and small patio. The main building is beautiful, with unique artwork, a comfortable sitting area and wonderful outdor eating area.
The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts quite good. I have been to Santa Fe a number of times, and this is the place that really captures its flavor and charm.
Beautiful rooms, gracious hosts
My wife and I stayed at El Farolito on a recent trip to New Mexico. Our room was as nice as any we've ever stayed in. It was large, comfortable and beautifully appointed. We couldn't believe the quality of the artwork and decor. The breakfasts were good and not "over the top" like in some inns. The staff was gracious and very helpful. The location was reasonably central and it was an easy walk downtown. I would heartily recommend it.
El Farolito was simply charming!
Just returned from 4 night stay at El Farolito Bed & Breakfast. It couldn't have been better. We stayed in one of the charming casitas with little kiva fireplace. Very clean, very private, very quiet. The Innkeepers were all great serving up wonderful homemade goodies for breakfast. Lots of beautiful artwork on the premises. Would highly recommend.
Excellent
Excellent place to stay. Room was in fantastic shape. Innkeepers extremely helpful and nice. Breakfast was great..homemade scones, nut bread, granola. Yogurt, fresh fruit plate, assorted teas, coffee. 10 minute walk to plaza. Quiet neighborhood. Offstreet parking. Nice patio near room. Bed was incredibly comfy. Only thing I would add is a hottub.
Amazing attention to detail
During our stay at El Farolito we felt that everything about the establishment was first class, and evidenced amazing attention to the smallest detail. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the excellent cotton linens felt like silk. Our room had every amenity we could want, and was decorated with some beautiful original artworks, apparently by pretty well-known Santa Fe artists. We found the location handy for walking to most of the main attractions of downtown Santa Fe. The breakfasts were great, especially the awesome granola. As former innkeepers we know the level of effort such attention to detail requires, and we can't imagine staying anywhere else on our future visits.
