This is a really weird feeling, leaving home for a five month adventure. We do a lot of traveling, but never one of this length. It's required an humongous amount of planning and while we've tried to think of all contingencies, we know that's not even possible.
And that's OK--part of the seat-of-your-pants traveling we're best at.

We’ve recently made a trip to three National Parks: Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier. The short description of this trip together with multiple photos was published on our website http://www.innaartwork.com/ (specifically in ...

Day) and used her backyard as our last different official campsite -- number forty-nine (an even fifty if one includes the Wisconsin pop-up camper - I don’t). The next few days will see us drifting west -- more updates and flashbacks will be posted soon.
Tidbit:
- US Glacier National Park is very large -- I will do size comparisons of all the visited National Parks once I have time and a good internet connection.
Kalispell is actually starting to feel like home away from home! The mechanic ran into delays, truck won't be ready till Wednesday, so we are catching up with laundry, grocery shopping, haircuts, and resting. Wondering what we'll find when we open up the trailer after this long week. Need to get re-organized before we head west again.
... to tug you backwards off the motorcycle. It was so sad...I tried in vain to keep using my trusty ol' jacket, which I have owned roughly forever. I kept hoping that if I was just really really careful about zipping it up perfectly then it would stay in place. Nope. So, I threw the jacket in the saddle bag, and rode without it. Tony H helped with a little over-the-phone remote roadside assistance, trying to help me figure out where I could buy a new ...

The only animals we say were marmots and pikas which are smaller ground animals. We sat by the lake to eat a snack and rest up for the 6 miles back down the mountain. Some of the pikas must be used to human food because they sure do beg. One came right up to my backback looking for food. It was cute but sad that they are so used to people.
Now on to Canada!!
... see in the photos that it is under major repair at the moment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Going-to-t he-Sun_Road We spent the evening watching the long sunset on the beach at the lake, Brent braved the cold and amazingly clear water to get soe great photos. Toby stayed on the beach!
Glacier National Park, Montana, United States brent-n-toby... were in a sleeper cabin on Amtrak, we were considered "first class passengers." We got a special fancy lounge in Chicago, champagne and other treats on board, and our own first-class car attendant. We also were four of about 32 passengers on the sleeper car, compared to over 100 in a coach car - if everyone traveled by train the way we did on the Empire Builder, it would not be a lower-carbon choice. It felt strange to be singled out and treated more "specially" than other ...
Apgar, Montana, United States kirafiddleWe're half-starved now, and that's the honest truth. Ranching stuff works up an appetite, we agree. We park downtown and walk the sidewalk there. It's started raining now, and gray and cold. Lots to choose from, there's the Red Caboose and Truby's from yesterday. But, let's try something different, don't you think? So this looks nice, we go inside the Craggy Range, let's wash up first, the bathroom is ...
Whitefish, Montana, United States burtonllDrove with my friend Wei during Independence Day holiday. We were planning to visit Banff in Canada, but first we stopped at Glacier National Park. We drove through the park from east to west, and found the scenery along the Going To The Sun Road to be stunning. The glacial lakes were impressive, the shapes of the mountains full of curves and ...
