... near Civic Square and headed up to Zealandia, a nearby wildlife sanctuary, as we had managed to grab some discounted tickets. The sanctuary is up on the hills that surround Wellington, and once held water supplies for it's residents until they realised that having some dams and reservoirs built directly on a fault line above a city wasn't the best idea in the world. ... we went for a walk up a maori pa ..an ancient hill where the maori s lived just outside napier with great views back to the city....we stayed in a car park on the harbour front..

wednesday 14th

we did the heritage walk first thing this morning... a short hour long walk past all the historical buildings in the harbour and old wharf....then we continued on the sh2 which creeps along the shoreline before it heads inland past tangoio ...

... wir den Hafen der Hauptstatt Neuseelands. Nach so vielen Wochen in der Natur kam uns die Fahrt durch die Metropole fremd und ungewohnt vor. Wir staunten über die vielen Autos, Menschen und hohen Gebäude. (Wir hatten zuletzt in Deutschland richtige Hochhäuser gesehen).

... var ved ”The Kauri Museum”. Vi valgte at springe turen over, da vi gerne vil gemme pengene til noget andet. Så i stedet for at tage i museum, gik vi i souvenir shoppen og lagde ellers udenfor og nød solen. Herefter kørte vi resten af turen til Auckland, hvor vi var ved 5 tiden. Vi tjekkede ind på vores hostel, Nomads the fat camel, og herefter spiste vi aftensmad, fik ordnet lidt ting i byen og tog et bad. Aftenen brugte vi på at skrive dagbog og se ringenes herre.
