    Gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill in 1848. This find attracted Americans and immigrants alike. American men moved west and immigrants arrived via San Francisco's port.     ... ladders into the chasm. For a pinch of gold dust you could take a stalactite home with you. This chasm is unique because of helictites that go all crazy. They are formed on crystal at a time and defy gravity. It was fun and a work out of 165 steps down and up.

    I feel the draw of the open road and off we go for Amador County and the foothills of the Sierras. I found a darling cottage on airbnb booked it for two nights. It was a mere 2 1/2 hours from Lafayette. We are staying near the tiny Fiddletown and the last store is in Plymouth where we stopped for supplies.

    Today we arrived at our campground at BEALS POINT, at FOLSOM SRA.. Nice spot with full hookup, except no TV reception. Oh well, we plan to be busy this week. After we cleaned up and got situated we drove a short distance to sister Diane's house.. My nephew, Aaron was home. I had not seen him in about 8-9 years. Also, great- nephew Levi was there..
