We intended to go to the ballgame tonight--the Bluefield (West Virginia) Blue Jays vs. the Princeton Rays, but it started raining about 3:00 and never let up. The game was postponed by the time we got to the hotel around 5:00, so at least we didn't have to go to the park and stand around through a lengthy rain delay. ... the town of only 500 residents but all these visitors (because the other little mining towns weren't connected by roads, those who were coming and going from the region trained into Thurmond, which made it a huge hub of activity). ... Gorge. Along the way, there were a couple of turnouts which allowed us to stop and view the river below us. We also stumbled upon the National Park Service’s information center for the New River Gorge National River.
